During a few KSMD’s during 2018, I recall mentioning how my interest in the “rock” genre, has sort of been re-ignited over these past few years. It was a spontaneous process, really. My musical tastes have hopped around over the years, but the wide and crazy genre of rock is most certainly something that has impacted me the most. Since my re-ignited interest in the genre, I’ve spent hours coming across new bands to listen to, digging for new sub-genres within the genre that better fit my musical taste, despite having no idea that such a genre even existed before. Now more than ever, I’m finding music that I properly connect with, on a consistent basis, rather than coming across 2-3 new gems every year, like in the past.
Today, featured project, may just be one of those gems, and I felt now more than ever is a golden opportunity to feature their new project!
Design The Void describes themselves a s a metal band based out of Kane, PA with a mission to “inspire and empower through our music and words.” The band was designed by Joshua Johnson back in 2016, later adding his prior band-mate Koden Thompson into the fold, and later recruiting musicians; Richie Bernhard, Jack Halleck, and Josh Messier. It seems the band is fairly young in it’s life-span, having released only one EP entitled “Visionary” during 2017. But even so, it’s more than enough to bring you into the fold of the band and catch ear of their amazing melodies, and heavy tracks. The band now consists of Joshua Johnson, Koden Thompson, Josh Messier, and drummer Chad Koza.
Now, with 2019 underway, Design The Void is preparing to make their most ambitious move yet with the band, that’s right – releasing their debut album! The album is set to be entitled “Ebon Soul” and is sure to showcase the bands potential and growth from over the years – to the highest degree. The first single from the debut album, entitled “In Motion” is currently out and available for listening.
As we all know by now, creating and releasing an album is not a cheap process to undergo, which is why Design The Void is looking to their fans, new and old to help bring the album to life! The band has long since started a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the album, with costs going directly to the production process, and many other expenses that come with producing and releasing an album. I am happy to announce however that the project has successfully funded, however the opportunity to back the project and get in on some of the rewards will still be available for the next 14 days, as the goal was reached quite early!
