Hello people of the internet!
Hopefully you all have gotten over this hump-day with ease. With my travels resuming again next week, excitement levels are going through the roof right now, so you can probably already imagine that getting through today was fairly tough.
But enough of that! Today I’m featuring a Photography type project that immediately caught my eye! I feel like many of you may find this one quite intriguing, so let’s jump right into it!
Stephanie Ouellette is a professional landscape and portrait photographer from Montreal, Canada. Having traveled the world for work, Stephane has a slew of photos taken in Canada, France, USA, Taiwan, China, Peru, Japan and more, Stephane is now looking to take his photography career to the next level, with a brand new project.

Following the work of Japanese artist, Ukiyo-e, Stephane is now seeking to follow his footsteps, taking photo’s of many of the infamous places Ukoyp-e once painted, at the exact same locations.

The project will showcase how much these locations have changed throughout the past 200 years.
During my spare time in Japan, I did a lot of research about his work and been on a quest to find the location where he was standing to paint some of his most famous sceneries. With the help of some historians, art professors and fans of his work, I could find the exact location of many of those places. As a photographer I have always dreamed to create my own personal photobook but never found time for it, never found the right project either. The work of Hiroshige have inspired me greatly and I knew that was it, that was my project and this is the time. That project mean a lot to me, it’s the dream of a life time and that will be my biggest accomplishment to date. I’m nearly touching it, just a few more steps and I’ll make it happen… You can help me make it happen. Follow me in this exciting journey!
Stephane will soon fly back to Japan and will be visiting these infamous locations, one by one. High quality photo’s will be taken, along with video documentation. Upon he conclusion of the trip, Stephane will then spend several months editing, writing, and retouching the photos, with the intention of keeping them as close as possible to the actual human-eye experience. Along with this, all of his video footage will be compiled into a video documentary of the journey.
The expected due date for the project is currently early December of this year.
This is a HUGE undertaking, and as you can probably already imagine, will not be very cheap, which is why Stephane will need our help! He has set up a handful of Rewards options which you can checkout below.
